Department of Radiology

Description:

The Department of Radiology provides service to the Philippine General Hospital through its diagnostic and radiotherapy sections. What started out as a small “radium emanation” facility in 1910 has now transformed into a major department located at the ground floor of the new Central Block. Known as the Department of Physical Therapy when first established in 1910, it was renamed Institute of X-ray and Radium Therapy with the opening of the Cancer Institute. Then it became the Department of Radiology, Physical Medicine and Cancer Institute. Today the Department of Radiology stands as a separate entity whose services are rendered by its diagnostic and radiotherapy programs. Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, the department continues to keep pace with advances in modern medicine in its bid to efficiently serve the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of PGH patients.
