Director Rolando Enrique D. Domingo this morning reminded the PGH community that breastfeeding is a major and continuing policy of the hospital. In his message during the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration, Dr. Domingo enumerated the ten steps to successful breastfeeding as he challenged all hospital personnel involved in the care of the newborn to ensure that this baby-friendly policy is properly implemented.
Likewise, UP Manila Chancellor Ramon L. Arcadio assured the hospital of his support in ensuring an enabling environment for the success of this health campaign. He also invited the staff of UP Manila to sign up for the “Gatas Ko, Buhay Mo” milk-letting activity for the milk bank project of the PGH Lactation Unit and Human Milk Bank.
Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Chair, Dr. Lourdes B. Capito presented the program of activities for the weeklong celebration. These are centered on supporting breastfeeding mothers and revitalizing health systems to enable women to fulfill their intention to breastfeed.
The World Breastfeeding Week is from August 2-6, 2010. There is a photo exhibit at the Central Block lobby during the week.
