The PGH Division of Pediatric Surgery recently received a PHP1Million grant from Matthew Foundation, a Philippine-based NGO with special interest in the plight of sick children needing surgical attention.
According to Dr. Wilma A. Baltazar, chief of the Pediatric Surgery division, this assistance will shorten waiting time for pediatric patient scheduled for elective surgery. The donation will fund the salary of two (2) operating room nurses and one (1) utility worker for a year. It will also provide PHP 50,000.00 monthly support for the use of indigent pediatric surgery patients.
With the additional personnel, operating days will increase to 5 times a week. About 400 patients are expected to benefit from this grant.
