The Department of Neurosciences is the newest department of the UP College of Medicine and the Philippine General Hospital and comprised of the Sections of Adult Neurology, Pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery. The departmentalization was the fruition of dream specialists over the last two decades, specialists who, early on recognized the need for a separate department because it united different but related subspecialties to provide optimal care to neurologic patients.

The Neuroscience department exists today not only as an integral part of a hospital dedicated to service, but an integral part of a training institution, with the graduates of the residency and fellowship programs capable of being leaders and innovators in their own community. The department continues to be a provider of excellent neurologic care to our less fortunate countrymen with regular in patient services, specialty clinics as well as neurodiagnostic laboratory to address the needs of the clientele.
