RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM
The PGH Pediatric Residency Training Program
The University of the Philippines College of Medicine – Philippine General Hospital Department of Pediatrics maintains the highest level (IV) accreditation status by the Philippine Pediatric Society for its pediatric residency training program since 2010 and all its pediatric subspecialty programs are accredited by the respective subspecialty societies.
Goals of the Pediatric Residency Training Program
The Pediatric Residency Training Program aims to produce skillful specialists who can serve the community as health care providers, leaders, teachers/academicians, researchers, and social mobilizers. The Department seeks to attain this goal through:
- Training and developing graduates in the field of Pediatrics towards:
- delivery of adequate and competent general medical care based on current scientific information;
- pursuit of specialized training for service and education;
- pursuit of new knowledge through relevant research activities; and
- acquisition of proper medical ethics for appropriate behavior as part of the medical team.
- To disseminate knowledge on pediatrics through proper placement of its graduates to efficiently serve the needs of the country.

CHILD FOUNDATION
For the year 2010, CHILD provided an average of over P700,000 per month for patients admitted to the pediatric wards. The commonly admitted cases are children suffering from pneumonia, diarrhea, neonatal sepsis, meningitis, leukemia and other forms of cancer, dengue, and typhoid.
